Nan Gray’s artistic endeavors began in earnest prior to age 5, when a painting she created won an art contest sponsored by the Sandy Becker Cartoon Show in New York City. Gray’s painting was featured on the television show, and she was sent a prize bigger than she was, hooking her for life!
Her watercolors are influenced by scenes and encounters that are often considered very ordinary in their locales, but are actually quite extraordinary when translated onto paper. She first captures her inspiration through a camera lens, then paints the sights and scenes with colors that come from the natural surroundings. She hopes the final result offers the viewer a moment of pure enjoyment.
COLORFUL. Whimsical. Vivid.
